IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for a HUMAN RESOURCE ADVISOR – BUSINESS SUPPORT SERVICES for our Edmonton, AB client.


You provide HR strategic support through partnering with your designated departments. You have an aptitude for developing solid relationships with employees at all levels. You are a champion and change agent by anticipating HR needs; and you collaborate through proactive communication to develop practical integrated solutions. You will be the key go to person for your departments. You build relationships and credibility with your unit leaders by balancing the ‘hands on’ operational needs with the strategic HR needs.

In Your Role You Will

Council leaders on proactive leadership and provide strategic human resource advice to create productive and cooperative work environments that enhance employee engagement.

Develop close working relationships in order to understand your department’s financial position, its plans, culture and competition.

Advise leaders on various workplace matters, including employee relations, training, development, compensation, benefits, restructures and the application of HR policies, programs and processes.

Work with leaders to build and maintain a talent acquisition plan, anticipate needs and actively recruit.

Participate in job analysis, position description reviews and compensation analysis.

Assist in all facets of the employee life-cycle from recruitment to on-boarding through to exiting or transitioning.

Provide guidance and input on department restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.

Facilitate employee relations including coaching and development and performance management.

Provide guidance in matters regarding WCB, Disability Management programs and employee requests for leave, medical documentation, employee accommodations and return to work programs.

Work with the leaders to actively seek ways to support the management of wellness and workplace stress.

Collaborate with the HR Team on the implementation of their HR Strategies and Strategic Goals.

Analyze trends and metrics with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.


Bachelor degree with a major in Human Resources or Psychology.

5+ years HR experience as a Generalist, HR Advisor or Business Partner.

Experience working within a Business Partner model approach.

Exceptional relationship building and interpersonal skills enabling interaction at all levels.

Demonstrated advising and coaching abilities.

Ability to define problems, provide solutions and an action plan.

Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines – organizational diagnosis, organizational development, performance management, rewards, recruitment, diversity, compensation, HR strategic management.

Previous experience within the social services sector is an asset.

CPHR or in progress.

Clear Police Check with Vulnerable Sector.

Youth Intervention Check.

Technology – Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office with previous experience working with HRMS.Bachelor’s degree with CPHR designation.

To be successful – not to put too fine a point on it – you need to have a track record of having done these things in the past.
