Our client is currently looking to hire a GENERAL MACHINIST for their Edson, Alberta location.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The General Machinist will be responsible for the following:
Effectively carry out their duties based on the schedule and guidance provided to them. These duties will include efficiently and accurately completing the assigned tasks on a suitable machine which could include engine lathes, boring mills, milling machines, drill presses, cylindrical grinders, etc. While performing these duties a Machinist is expected to maintain a tidy, safe and pleasant work shop environment.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
Proficient in reading and understanding engineered drawings, blueprints, charts, tables and parts blow ups.
Ability to select appropriate tooling for the work to be done.
Ability to set up conventional machining equipment to operate at accepted industry standards for the type of tooling being used.
Verify dimensions of machined parts using precision measuring instruments.
Fit and assemble components and machine parts to industry standards.
Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments.
Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.
Complete log books for each job, at each workstation.
Maintain calibration of tooling and complete calibration forms as required.
Maintain work area to the highest housekeeping standards.
Monitor and maintain equipment as per maintenance requirements.
Perform non-production related work as requested by the shift leader.
Maintain professional level of personal conduct.
Adhere to all Health and Safety, and Environmental requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Journeyman certificate, foreign trades license with suitable experience, or possess significant experience with proven ability to perform at the Journeyman level.
Ability to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
Possess a positive “can do” attitude.
High level of competency in accuracy of work.
Consistently perform in the top 25 percentile of co-workers.
Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
