Our client is currently looking to hire GENERAL MANAGER, Oilfield Safety Services for their Grande Prairie, Alberta location.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The General Manager is the senior operating executive and carries out the goals, policies and objectives established by the President. The General Manager coordinates all major activities involved in achieving business objectives. The General Manager will assist in the formulation of operating strategies to align with the overall strategic direction of the organization. The General Manager will also assist in the development of policies and oversees the planning, direction and co-ordination of all activities related to operations of all divisions of the corporation.
The General Manager reports to the President and supervises:
North and South General Managers
Sales Manager
Station Manager
Equipment Manager
The General Manager is the senior operating executive appointed by and derives authority from the President. The General Manager has full delegated authority to conduct, manage and administer all operational affairs of the company, within the parameters and limitations set by the President.
The General Manager will adhere to all policies, procedures and practices of our client. In collaboration with the President, the General Manager is responsible for planning, directing and overseeing all aspects of the company’s operational policies, objectives and initiatives. You will provide creative leadership while managing the day to day operations.
The General Manager is directly accountable for ensuring that all staff resources are in place and utilized effectively to achieve the agreed to plans and budgets as well as operating units and effective stewardship is provided to relevant budgets and employee development needs.
You will help lead and develop a group of well rounded, capable managers at each operating
company. You will oversee the implementation of an effective H/R program; one that builds critical
core competencies and organizational values.
In collaboration with President you will be responsible for contributing to the development of organizational strategy, including plans and approaches to improve or expand the company’s operations, and/or business practices and sales growth. Operating within organizational strategy you will be responsible for establishing, implementing and monitoring performance of operational policies and processes.
You will plan and direct all company operations to ensure that strategic goals are met, including implementing short and long term objectives, strategies and policies for all operating companies. You will also act as a sounding board for General Managers.
The General Manager establishes and maintains effective customer and public relationships through direct customer contact and or delegated company representation with a view to developing new business opportunities and presenting the company positively to the market place. You will maintain effective communications with the President and all functional operating areas, company employees and other essential personnel necessary to the performance of specific assignments, company plans and performance overall.
You will conduct regular meetings with General Managers to ensure that priorities are clear, coordination is good, and negotiates operational objectives and performance goals. You will also follow up on decisions made in management meetings and ensures proper execution. Conduct regular reviews of operating companies’ performance and decide on action required. Facilitate resolution of issues between divisions. Advise the CEO on strategic business development and key corporate planning issues and make recommendations on major business decisions.
The General Manager will keep the President informed about business activities, potential threats, opportunities and recommended actions. You will help determine resource allocation among operating companies along with meeting corporate operational objectives, strategic plans and goals.
You will meet operational budgets and promote profitability and growth of the company all while maintaining effective communication and leadership with the divisional General Managers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
In-depth knowledge of General Manager functions.
Oil & Gas experience a must.
Ability to effectively interface with all levels of internal and external customers.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Capability of multi-tasking.
