COST ACCOUNTANT, WOODSTOCK, ON, CANADA – #5026

IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for a COST ACCOUNTANT for our Woodstock, ON client.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client is a multinational organization manufacturing industry-leading premium products readily identified as the go-to products in their industry sector. This is a full stand-alone business entity that includes Manufacturing Product Development and Sales and Marketing. Well-positioned as the industry leader with more than 50% market share with its main product lines this organization provides long-term stability for its workforce.

Reporting to the Controller, you will be responsible for a variety of Accounting related functions including; preparing accounting or costing reports, process cost roll-up functions, periodic cost-roll simulations, participate in cycle count and physical stock tracking, compile and maintain freight tracking information. Maintain costing information records for freight, surcharge, and budget absorption rates.

This is a key role in the organization that works closely with various departments, maintaining and improving standard costs and the costing of new product lines. With upcoming retirements, the coming years will provide a good opportunity for advancement to the controller level.  Will have immediate responsibilities for the following:

Prepare and maintain budgets

Establish overhead and labour rates

Prepare monthly operational reports and variance analysis

Maintain KPI’s

Produce the weekly operations report

Participate in the weekly plant meetings

Manage the cost roll-up function

Prepare the Excess and Obsolete reports present on disposition and resolution

Prepare the assessment distribution percentages for manufacturing cost centers

Process and balance the monthly settlements between the finance and costing files

Prepare costing entries

Establish inter-company pricing

Assist in pricing review and price setting process

Participate and support the accounting month-end process

Report on inventory levels.

Participate as the accounting department rep on continuous improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have post-secondary education in a recognized accounting program. A sound understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word in particular) is essential. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and an ability to work well in a team environment. Previous experience using SAP would be an asset.
