JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Divisional Controller shall be responsible for the management of overall financial operations within Brandt Tractor Ltd. and will work collaboratively to provide accurate financial information including preparing financial reporting, financial analysis, account reconciliations, and budgeting and forecasting assistance. The Divisional Controller will direct and manage the day-to-day accounting functions, produce monthly financial results for the operating branches within Brandt Tractor Ltd., report and provide analysis on monthly results to Senior Management, and manage the monthly and annual financial reporting and budgeting process.

The Divisional Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day functions of the division including:

Manage the day-to-day accounting functions including the entry of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and statutory reporting.

Monitor and report on inventory levels, providing detailed analysis and insight on inventory controls.

Monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures.

Annual budgeting and forecasting process.

Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual operating results.

Define, measure, analyze, improve and control current processes which impact customer quality and influence internal operating efficiency.

Assist with providing strategic analysis as required to drive improved decision making.

Work with external auditors on year-end audit.

Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.

Monitor internal controls with respect to financial policies, processes and procedures.

Provide advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting.

Assist Director of Financial Reporting and Control in setting the priorities within accounting group.

Coordination of the year-end audit and preparation of audited financial statements.

Coordination of all other customer and government audits.

Preparation of monthly financial statements and external reporting to financial institutions, ensuring that all reporting requirements are met.

Assist with any other financial reporting to various companies and agencies (Insurance, Stats Can, etc.).

Generate reports of performance against budgets.

Assign and authorize cheques, purchase orders and invoices.

Formulation of accounting policies, procedures and controls, with input from the CFO and Director of Financial Reporting and Control.

Specific projects and other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

University degree in Business/Accounting, with advanced degree or professional accounting designation.

Experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management, including accounting principles, practices and applications as well as financial analysis and budgeting experience.

Knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local requirements regarding financial records, pension, profit sharing, and the like is essential.

Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.

Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.

Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.

Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.

Attention to detail in all areas of work.

Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role.

Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Good problem solving skills.

Knowledge of ERP computer systems an asset
