MAINTENANCE MANAGER, MONTREAL, QC, CANADA – #5388

IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting a MAINTENANCE MANAGER for our Montreal, QC client.

The position is accountable for the development, planning and management of the maintenance and engineering activities required to ensure safe and optimal operational efficiency of terminal equipment and processes. Manages the ongoing modification of and improvement to the facility to ensure ongoing competitiveness and profitability.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Manages maintenance plans and programs to increase uptime and profitability while providing the necessary support for ongoing operations. This includes mechanical and electrical services, boilers, steam production, waste water treatment and automation.

Plan, develop, organize and supervise repair and maintenance programs to ensure equipment installation and Terminal is maintained in good operating condition.

Direct and supervise the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Planner in completing their work assignments.

Analyze new technologies in grain processing, recommend enhancements as appropriate, and plan and manage project teams in the implementation of approved new/revised systems and processes.

Plan, develop, organize, and monitor systems such as equipment records, scheduling, reporting and a preventative maintenance system to ensure equipment is properly serviced and maintained with the most efficient utilization of manpower and materials.

Administer and monitor divisional and corporate policies.

Develop major and minor repair and maintenance budgets for the Terminal; monitor and explain deviations from budget.

Oversees and coordinates maintenance service requirements outsourced to external service providers.

Overall responsibility to ensure that all site assets are maintained in good working condition and to oversee all grounds maintenance.

Participates in the development and implementation of capital projects of financial or risk benefit to the facility.

Ensures documentation of maintenance processes is complete and up to date. Provides reports as required.

Manages equipment conditions and work practices to ensure that safety standards are maintained in accordance with the company’s requirements and government regulations.

Responsible for all aspects of human resource management including hiring, promoting, performance management, and discipline within company policy and collective agreement. Provides for effective staff development according to requirements.

Helps to promote an environment that fosters teamwork and safe work practices. Promotes efficient initiatives through participation, training and staff engagement in continuous work improvement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Mechanical, electrical and analytical ability.

Demonstrated understanding of industrial maintenance, boilers, steam production, waste water treatment and HVAC systems.

Proven planning, problem solving, organizing, project management, leadership and supervisory skills in a Unionized environment.

Strong Health & Safety background.

Expertise in delegating and controlling.

Proven ability to work effectively under stress as related to extreme flexibility and variation required of daily planning within a terminal elevator.

Minimum ten (10) years experience in the following fields as a tradesman:

  • Maintenance
  • Terminal Elevator
  • Supervisory/Maintenance Management
  • PE or Certified Engineering Technology

Computer competent.

Bilingual, French and English is a must

Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience including supervisory experience of in scope and out of scope employees.

College or university degree in a related field.

Engineering certificate (a strong asset).

Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
