JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the proactive design, development and implementation of integrated systems for optimal performance, considering both the hardware and software elements of system design, their interrelationships and compatibility. He or she is required to have extensive knowledge of different technologies from both a hardware and software perspective, and how they work together to provide business solutions. The Systems Engineer must also have an understanding of the user requirements and related industry solutions and practices, to ensure all needs are met and optimal performance is achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with others to proactively resolve complex system issues, often reaching beyond the specific project into the underlying technologies and/or design approach.

Implement new solutions across a variety of products or projects, ensuring data integrity and system functionality is maintained, and downtime is kept to a minimum. Propose corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.

Support the resolution of technical support issues, providing consultation and technical advice to those offering first or second tier support

Participate in the presales process to present and negotiate technical aspects of large, complex projects to prospective clients.

Attend client meetings to provide technical guidance and/or explanations on technical issues.

Oversee the installation; configuration and testing of complex systems, ensuring all technical and functional specifications are met.

Translate functional specifications into complex system designs and/or technical project plans, collaborating with business analysts, developers, systems analysts and architects as required to formulate project scope and system objectives.  Project-oriented responsibilities may include project planning, implementation, timing, and assistance with cost management and resource planning.

Coordinate the technical implementation of complex systems or applications, ensuring compliance with technical and user specifications.

Contribute to, or enhance technical documents

All other duties as assigned

Highly organized with the ability to multitask and work towards tight deadlines.

Advanced understanding of systems engineering approaches, standards and protocols

Specialist level understanding of how various elements integrate to create a system.

Ability to explain and defend decisions regarding systems issues.

Demonstrates specialist level analytical and problem solving skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be fluent in French & English for this position.

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, with a focus on Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

At least five years of progressive systems engineering experience, or equivalent.

Knowledge of power transmission products, electronic products (VFD’s) or electric motors is an asset.
