IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently looking to hire a DIRECTOR OF CAPITAL PROJECTS for our client in the Greater Richmond, VA area.
Our client, a leader in continuous chemical intermediate manufacturing, producing resins and chemical intermediates, is seeking a Capital Engineering Director to oversee their U.S. project portfolio at each of their 8 manufacturing plants.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Capital Engineering team and develop strategies for substantial manufacturing enhancement.
Manage the scope, evaluation, and execution of engineering projects with capital investments exceeding $100 million across all facilities.
Oversee and refine processes involving engineering design, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and construction to achieve approved project scopes.
Drive communication and resource synergies with site and functional leaders.
Conduct Capital Planning Reviews, develop Annual Operating Plans, and lead Six Sigma Initiatives to establish the site capital plan and budget.
Forecast and manage capital expenditures, regularly communicating updates to Operations and Senior Leadership.
Leadership and Culture:
Directly manage and mentor the capital engineering team, fostering performance and career development.
Implement a robust safety program with consistent policy application and safety audits.
Set and communicate department goals and objectives, utilizing Capital Engineering Metrics.
Actively participate in the Operations Leadership Team and related activities.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with the Controller team for project evaluation and economic analysis of capital investments.
Ensure successful project execution by integrating plant personnel and monitoring project objectives.
Utilize resources from site engineering, purchasing, operations, and business engineering, as well as external vendors and contractors.
Support operations and maintenance through new technologies and techniques to enhance department operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
- Over 10 years of experience in capital project management and execution.
- Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification, or equivalent experience in productivity and continuous improvement projects.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in financial budget management, project troubleshooting, team building, and leadership.
- Proven track record of managing significant investments and leading large organizations.
- PMP Certification is desired.
