Global Chemical Manufacturer | Greater Cleveland Area
A leading global chemical manufacturer is seeking a Maintenance & Reliability Engineer to help drive equipment reliability, plant efficiency, and operational excellence at a major production facility near Cleveland.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex equipment problems, analyzing reliability data, and implementing improvements that make a real impact on plant performance. You’ll work cross-functionally with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to strengthen the plant’s reliability strategy and ensure critical equipment performs safely and consistently.
What You’ll Do:
As a key member of the site reliability team, you will help ensure the long-term performance of critical plant equipment by:
- Providing technical guidance and engineering support to maintenance and operations teams
- Analyzing equipment performance data to identify bad actors and reliability improvement opportunities
- Leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and implementing long-term corrective actions
- Developing and managing preventive maintenance (PM) strategies and mechanical integrity programs
- Facilitating reliability review meetings and promoting best practices across the site
- Tracking reliability metrics such as Mean Time Between Repair (MTBR) and driving continuous improvement
- Supporting key Process Safety Management (PSM) elements including:
- Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
- Incident Investigations
- Management of Change (MOC)
- Ensuring compliance with ISO 9000 standards and the company’s safety and reliability programs
- Overseeing equipment inspections and maintenance planning to ensure schedule compliance
- Coordinating with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to maintain operational continuity
- Managing small capital projects up to $150K while supporting cost optimization initiatives
What We’re Looking For:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- Approximately 5–10+ years of experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or industrial manufacturing environment
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of rotating and process equipment, including:
- Pumps
- Compressors
- Heat exchangers
- Pressure vessels
- Piping systems
- Relief valves
- Experience implementing reliability methodologies and mechanical integrity programs
- Ability to analyze equipment data, diagnose issues, and implement practical solutions
- Familiarity with SAP or other maintenance management systems preferred
Professional Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset
- Effective communicator able to work across maintenance, engineering, and operations
- Leadership ability to drive reliability improvements and best practices
