IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for a HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST/BUSINESS PARTNER for our Nisku, AB client.


As a member of the Human Resources team, you will work in a rapidly changing, complex and fast-paced environment providing support in a range of HR cross-functional areas.  As the Sr. Human Resources Generalist, you will be responsible for applying business knowledge and human resources expertise with a focus at looking at the big picture and solutions orientated. As the first point of contact for employees and managers, you will assist in a providing a wide range of advisory support to all levels of management and will be a key contributor to the design, delivery and maintenance of Human Resources programs including talent acquisition, talent management, recruitment, rewards programs, training and development, legal compliance, performance management, compensation, company policies and procedures, employee communications, and corporate culture. This role requires a well-rounded generalist and will appeal to someone who is highly motivated, has excellent communication skills, sound judgement, thrives in a fast-paced environment and works equally well autonomously or within a team. This position will report to the Sr. Manager, Human Resources and will be office-based in the Nisku, Alberta location. You will also be responsible for the HR of the Calgary and Winnipeg locations as well.

  • Partner with regional leadership to develop recruitment strategies based on regional requirements and fill positions in a timely and efficient manner
  • Perform onboarding and offboarding processes in alignment with HR department requirements
  • Be first point of HR contact for regional workforce to address questions or HR inquiries
  • Understand the employment market in the region and regularly review the compensation structure to ensure alignment
  • Recommend and implement strategic HR solutions to management that support the regional/location business objectives
  • Manage regional employee relations, disciplinary requirements, and workplace investigations
  • Perform WCB/STD/LTD claims management as required
  • Provide support to employees regarding leaves of absences, apprenticeship programs, employment insurance claims and other requests as required
  • Collaborate with the management team on annual HR programs to ensure timely completion in alignment with corporate requirements such as performance review cycle, merit and bonus programs, talent assessment program and audit requirements
  • Collaborate with HR team and management to identify and implement opportunities for best practice strategies or programs that will support an employer of choice culture
  • Partner with management to ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements in alignment with a COR certified employer
  • Coordinate and implement team building and employee recognition events
  • Support front-line managers in solving employee relations issues through effective coaching, problem solving and ensuring adherence to appropriate employment laws and policies
  • Assist with developing training and development plans for employees that result
  • Be knowledgeable about company policies and make recommendations on updates as required
  • Analyze HR trends and metrics to make sound recommendations and solutions to management
  • Participate in a variety of HR or business projects that support the company in achieving its objectives


  • University Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Human Resources Designation required
  • 7+ years of HR Business Partner/Manager experience in mid-sized organization
  • Exposure to manufacturing and/or industrial industries preferred
  • Ability to travel within Canada and US approx. 5% to 8% of time
  • Safety experience required, COR Certified preferred
  • Exceptional recruitment skillset with proven ability to successfully and efficiently fill both hourly and salaried positions
  • Strong understanding of both provincial and federal employment legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to act as both a driver and administrator of HR programs and initiatives
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and understanding of how to motivate and engage individuals across all levels of the organization
  • Broad thinker who can apply HR principals to business objectives to achieve optimal business results
