IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for a DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING, OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE for our Windsor, ON client.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
With a strong technical background in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, the Director will effectively oversee all manufacturing outcomes including managing high performing teams, processes and plant equipment.
- Lead the manufacturing function including design and implementation of strategy of the engineering, maintenance and operations group
- Promote safety, quality innovation and continuous improvement
- Manage resources and activities to provide optimal organizational impact
- Develop and implement processes to maximize resources, optimize process efficiency and increase capacity
- Plan, direct and coordinate the manufacturing operation in compliance with company goals and objectives
- Create a safe and efficient working environment
- Set strategic direction while ensuring engineering, maintenance and operation teams meet safety, quality and delivery objectives
- Provide expertise to build out a world-class manufacturing team while developing a culture focused on customer service and delivering results
- Coach, mentor and help grow high-performing teams
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets, capital projects and action plans to drive efficiencies
- Develop action plans to drive Key Performance Indicators
- Participate in standardization, cost reduction and systemic improvement
- Develop cost effective alternatives and improvements to production process
- Liaise with cross-functional departments and drive project teams
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field
- Minimum 10 – 15 years of manufacturing operations management experience in a leadership capacity for a high volume, world class manufacturer
- Proven experience with lean manufacturing and/or Toyota Production System
- Ability to quickly adapt in a fast paced work environment
- Proven success in meeting and exceeding Key Performance Indicators
- Strong people leader with success in people growth, mentoring, conflict resolution and ability to inspire team members at various levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in change management continuous improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of costing and budgeting process
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills
