IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for an ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER for our London, ON client.


Develop an employee focused safety culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement and high performance

Assist in accident/incident/illness investigations

Disability Management and Accommodation (WSIB and non-Occupational including mental health)

Conduct Job Hazard Assessments and assist in developing appropriate controls for all equipment and processes

Arrange for Industrial Hygiene assessments (personal and area monitoring for dust, noise, and air quality, as necessary)

Organize MSD prevention efforts through contracted agencies including pre-placement screenings, job demands analysis and ergonomic assessments

Ensure that the company is complying with all applicable legislation and following relevant standards and guidelines

Coordinate applicable health and safety training, including overhead crane, forklift, respirator, WHMIS, and new hire health and safety orientation

Participate in activities and meetings of the Joint Health and Safety Committee as the Management Co-Chair

Maintain the Safety Group Program status

Gather data and prepare submissions for required environmental reporting (i.e. National Pollutant Release Inventory, HWIN etc.) Assist with the hazardous waste disposal program

Monitor trends in safety and establish required action to reduce and/or eliminate all incidents. Prepare statistical reports for Management

Present environmental, health and safety information at the monthly Employee Meetings

Act as liaison between the company and Ministry of Labour Inspectors

Coordinate the Emergency Response Team

Violence and Harassment Risk Assessments and Prevention

Coordinate Health & Safety orientation for all new hires

Chair the Wellness Committee and plan and manage wellness initiatives as well as the Psychological Health & Safety Committee

Provides clinical healthcare services including: First Aids, Medical Aids, Case Management, Medical Surveillance and general health education and coaching

Maintains confidential record-keeping


Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses and current COHN designation with at least 5 years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety

Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Human Rights Legislation, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act

Proficiency with MS Office

Ongoing education and professional development is required

Excellent working knowledge of applicable Acts, Regulations and Standards as they relate to the company (Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Human Rights Legislation, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act)

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills
