QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER, WARDEN, WA, UNITED STATES – #5190

IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for a QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER for our Warden, WA client.

This position is responsible for managing all food and feed safety and quality programs and laboratory validation activities within the facility.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Implements and monitors programs and standards to ensure safe and efficient laboratory activities, the production of quality and safe food and feed products that comply with government regulations and customer requirements.

Manages laboratory testing of in process product to assist with process control.  Maintains a close relationship with operations staff to provide coaching and assistance on understanding process chemistry and suggest process improvements.  Works with plant staff to ensure that employee training in sanitation and product/process quality testing is maintained.

Manages laboratory testing of finished product to ensure customer satisfaction and provides accurate and timely Certificates of Analysis to Load-out and Merchandising groups.

Provides assistance with R&D test runs and other projects, documents and reports on laboratory processes, and provides inventory reports as required.  Participates in review of projects involving new equipment and products to assist with developing HAZOP and Food Safety risk analysis, and review changes to HACCP plan.

Responsible for asset management of laboratory equipment including calibration and maintenance.  Management of laboratory-related projects and improvement.  Effectively manages storage, usage, purchasing, and cost control of laboratory related consumables.

Investigates all non-conformance issues in the plant resulting from customer complaints and/or audits and provides appropriate reports and follow-up.

Provides feedback to the Plant Management team on HACCP and Food Safety items.

Works closely with the Manager of Food Quality and Safety in the implementation of the client’s is Food Safety program.

Develops a system for capturing key quality metrics as required by the client’s policy, and for continual improvement of the Food Safety plan.

Responsible for communication with customers on issues of quality and food safety.

Develops work instructions, procedures and documentation related to quality and food safety in accordance with the client’s document control program.  Serves as the main on site contact person for FSSC audits.

Responsible for all aspects of the team’s human resource management including hiring, promoting, performance management and discharging within company policy.

Lead, coach and manage the team to ensure excellence, awareness and commitment to the client, team and the department’s goals and objectives.

Develops and maintains effective relationships with regulatory agencies, customers and other stakeholders within the organization.

Operates in accordance with health, safety, and fire prevention regulations and practices.

Maintains accreditation and certification testing as required.

Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum of five (5) years of food industry experience, some of which are at the management level.

Post-secondary degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Food Science.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.

Experience with HACCP / Quality Assurance programs.

Solid and demonstrated communication skills.

Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs.

Detail oriented and proven organizational skills.

Solid interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to prioritize work.

Proven analytical and problem solving skills.
