SAFETY MANAGER, MODESTO, CALIFORNIA, USA – #5043

Our client is a flagship plant, looking for a new member of their safety team. This is a critical role which includes the ability to cultivate, promote and continuously improve a “safety first” culture amongst company employees.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Develop, implement, and manage all safety and health programs, policies and procedures.

Establish and promote the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions, and recommend measures to reduce or eliminate accidents and health hazards in compliance with OSHA regulations.

Manage workers comp process, programs and compliance, to include tracking injuries and accident statistics and reports.

Assist in the investigation of all accidents by gathering all pertinent facts, interviewing witnesses, reviewing reports concerning the incident in cooperation with operations personnel and occupational health coordinator.

May represent the company in hearings, insurance investigations and OSHA informal hearings.

Work with company and operations leadership to drive safety culture and change.

Monitor and manage all local, state and federal regulatory rules and regulations in the area of safety.

Conduct safety training for the plant and ensure all Job Safety Analysis and safety training materials are kept up to date.

Participate in corporate safety audits.

Monitor and manage the inventory of needed safety items.

Apply lean principles and drive lean applications in company operations.

Manage and oversee the Safety Committee at the plant.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree.

5 + years safety experience in a manufacturing plant.

CSP certification a plus.

3+ years leadership experience.

Solid knowledge of current OSHA regulations, as well as State and Federal regulations to ensure plant is compliant.

Lean, Six Sigma familiarity.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Assess and coordinate company compliance with Federal, California and local regulations.

Ensure the effective training and implementation of environmental programs.

Identify, lead and manage sustainable project initiatives (greenhouse gases, water reduction and waste minimization).

Develop and deliver effective, well documented team member training.

Identify, develop and project manager, sustainability and environmental compliance projects.

Represent the company with local and state agencies.

Ensure effective communication of the environmental compliance and sustainability plan with all levels of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree.

5 + years environmental experience in a manufacturing plant.

CSP certification a plus.

GENERAL MANAGER, WASCO, CA, USA – #5033

IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for a GENERAL MANAGER for our Bakersfield, California, USA client.

We are searching for a General Manager to develop strategies to drive transparency and continuous improvement to all aspects of the operations for an egg production and processing company in California.

The General Manager has full P&L responsibility over a large egg operation in California. The General Manager will build and develop high performing operations, sales, customer service, marketing, procurement, food quality, animal welfare, employee safety, environmental, human resources, finance and accounting teams.  Fostering a culture of collaboration, the GM will ensure that each department is running smoothly and maintain a strong connection with the marketplace in order to make recommendations on future growth, capex opportunities and process improvement.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Manage day-to operations of the company. Drive transparency and continuous improvement into every aspect of the operations.

Oversee the pullet-rearing operations to ensure high-quality pullets, managing metrics including: bird weights, vaccination efficacy & uniformity.

Oversee the layer operations to manage metrics including: productivity, livability, feed consumption, bird health, etc.

Produce and maintain best-in-class biosecurity policies and practices for all areas of the company. Ensure all policies, training and day-to-day practices reflect a culture of absolute focus on biosecurity and safety for the animals within the company’s care. Foster an environment actively seeking and promoting ways to improve biosecurity across the complex.

Ensure efficient and accurate washing, packaging and warehousing of all eggs in this in-line, 7-day processing plant. Continuously monitor the preventative-maintenance program to ensure equipment remains in proper working order.

Oversee warehouse operations ensuring: timely & accurate loading of trucks, sufficient inventory levels of packaging materials/other supplies and accurate FIFO handling of finished goods.

Monitor litter quality and inventory levels in order to capture maximum $/ton valuation on all loads shipped.

Oversee HR to ensure all critical functions are covered including: compliance with CA labor law, training, onboarding/offboarding, temp staffing, turnover, etc.

Oversee Finance and Accounting Department to ensure all critical functions are completed timely and accurately including: Month-end financials/bank compliance, cashflow forecast, monthly BOD reports, operational support, annual audit/tax, annual budget, etc.

Work with IT service provider to maintain server security & integrity, data backups, software license coverage, helpdesk support, etc.

Foster a mindset of continues improvement within all areas of the company. Establish written SOP’s and checklists that provide a platform for ongoing skills training allowing a solid base from which to make improvements.

Drive a culture of employee safety. Ensure safety is a component of all operational meetings and messaging. Make prevention a top priority. Carefully monitor and manage open worker’s comp cases to drive closure and cost control into the process.

This position has full P&L responsibility. It will be critical to establish procedures and align company talent to ensure the most important metrics are tracked and fully understood.

Make recommendations and execute for all types of capital expenses: maintenance, compliance & ROI.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BA or BS in Business, Engineering, Agriculture or related field.

8-10 years of experience in the Egg industry in a Management or Director role

3-5 years of experience managing 20+ direct reports

Ability to work effectively at all levels within the and outside the organization.

Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others

Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.

Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities.

Common sense and sound basic judgement.
