GENERAL SALES MANAGER – EDMONTON, AB, CANADA – # 4991

IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for a GENERAL SALES MANAGER for our Edmonton, AB client.

Our client is expanding their team and looking for a dynamic manager who will manage all aspects of sales relationships with the sales team, customers and suppliers. The position is accountable to develop and implement sales strategies for setting sales goals and for delivering sales volume. Travel is required across the sales territory and both regional offices, including: AB, BC, SK and MB.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Lead, coach and develop a sales team by hiring, reviewing performance, providing feedback, determining training and development needs, establishing goals and priorities, providing work direction, and maintaining a succession plan.

Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills

Ability to foster and maintain individual accountability of direct reports

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Self-motivated, driven

Exhibit a structured, collaborative and proactive strategic sales approach, along with a solid track record in relationship building

Implement and manage company policies and objectives, and communicate to internal and external stakeholders in order to maximize customer service and functional team support

Manage assigned budgets for the company

Monitor competitive market activity and communicate to senior management recommendations that have a direct effect on business in the region

Develop and maintain strong relationships with our client’s vendors and contractors

Develop and execute annual business and trade/marketing spend plans for the organization in order to achieve annual sales objectives

QUALIFICATIONS:

University degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience

Construction industry knowledge is an asset

Experience in the Request for Proposal (RFP) / Tender process

Strong analytical, planning, presentation, negotiation, and problem solving skills

Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Microsoft Office products

Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and demands

Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment

Our client designs and supplies playgrounds, water spray parks and site furnishings in Western Canada. They are local representatives for a number of national and international manufacturers.

Our client is expanding their team and looking for a dynamic sales professional to capitalize on opportunities and build their existing client base, develop sales strategies and take advantage of opportunities in the designated territory.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The ability to develop and manage relationships with buyers and influencers over an extended cycle.

Highly developed presentation, facilitation skills, and the ability to communicate with diverse groups through the design process.

Responsiveness and being action-oriented with the ability to align product and design proposals with customer needs, budgets, and preferences.

Able to learn our client’s design approach, characteristics of the product lines, product safety requirements, and the procurement practices of various types of customers.

Your track record demonstrates that you have superior talent when it comes to prioritizing and completing tasks; initiating and developing positive business relationships; maintaining focus on goals; and placing a high value on customers and their issues. Your record also speaks to your ability to take personal responsibility and action toward learning and implementing new ideas, methods, and technologies; to use initiative and make progress without managerial oversight.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-secondary education preferred

Experience selling to the public sector is considered an asset

Familiarity with construction industry practices and landscape architecture would be an asset

Vehicle and valid driver’s license – some travel required

Must have strong computer skills and strong negotiation skills

Experience in a construction environment

AutoCAD and blueprint knowledge

Experience working in a customer service role

Experience within a project and sales team

Strong written and verbal communication skills
