IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for a PRODUCTION MANAGER for our Pittsburgh, PE client.
As Production Manager you will lead the production department in a well-established manufacturing plant. Responsibilities for this position are typical of any manufacturing facility that includes liquid mixing & blending plus a very sophisticated cooling process and a variety of product packaging operations. This plant is not highly automated although the future may include upgrades in this area.
Reporting directly to the Site Manager, you will:
Manage the production team; 45 employees on your staff including (3) Production Supervisors and the Production Planner. This includes hiring responsibilities as they grow.
Drive continuous improvement. This includes evaluating process efficiencies, reducing waste, monitoring utility usage, managing production procedural changes, and getting your team to buy-in to company initiatives. The team is enthusiastic but as long-term employees they may lack “vision” as to what “better” may look like.
Manage the manufacturing costs budget.
Oversee the production training program to ensure the work force is continually developed.
In consultation with the HSE department, take full management responsibly to ensure that the plant is following all federal, state, local, and company standards for safety and environmental.
Ensure safe work conditions by setting a high standard for housekeeping and a culture for continuous safety improvement. Serve as department leader ensuring near miss incidents are investigated to determine root cause and corrective actions implemented.
In cooperation with the Quality Manager, ensure that operating procedures are in place. Act as the production liaison & champion for quality and regulatory systems (GFSI, ISO, cGMP, HACCP, Food Safety, etc.)
Oversee production planning activities and planning procedure.
We are searching for a Production Manager who will focus on continuous improvement including mentoring an older workforce on how to use technology. They are actively up-grading & modernization this plant such that strong leadership skills will be needed to effectively manage work-practice changes.
5+ years of Production Supervisory or Management in a processing plant with liquid mixing & blending.
Could be from a variety of industries: plastics manufacturing, food ingredients production, chemical compounding or etc
History having work on plant improvement projects; best if has applied six sigma tools.
Ability to influence and work in cross functional teams.
Project management experience is also preferable as this individual will participate in capital budget planning
