IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting a CNC FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN for our Mississauga, ON client.
The client is a 30-year-old company that has been supplying and servicing quality metal working machinery to the Eastern Canadian market since its founding in 1980. They offer a wide range of machining applications, including multi-axis turning and machining, both large and small, all across Eastern Canada.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Field Service Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines (Milling, Lathe, EDM – Electrical Discharge Machining) at customer sites. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our clients.
Installation and Setup:
- Install and set up CNC machines at customer locations.
- Ensure proper calibration and alignment of machines to meet specifications.
Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues promptly – Hydraulic, Pneumatic Systems, Gear Boxes & Bearings of all CNC Equipment.
- Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components or parts.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to prevent unexpected downtime.
Training and Support:
- Provide training to customers on the operation and basic maintenance of CNC machines.
- Offer technical support to customers through phone, email, or on-site visits.
- Plan and assist in the implementation of a rigorous, preventative maintenance program as well as a predictive maintenance program to minimize machines downtime.
- Maintain detailed records of service visits, repairs, and installations.
- Prepare service reports for each customer visit.
- Conduct quality checks on machines after installations or repairs.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in CNC technology.
- Make recommendations for improvements to enhance machine performance.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certifications or a degree in a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience as a CNC Field Service Technician or in a similar role.
- 3+ years of experience as a Field Service Technician
- Millwright Certification is an asset.
- Familiarity with a variety of CNC machines and controls – Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Heidenhain, Siemens)
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals and schematics – Blueprints.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems efficiently.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites for installations and service visits – mainly GTA area.
- Must be willing to work outside of regular business hours and perform on call support as required.
- Adherence to safety protocols and guidelines during all tasks.
