JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Dispatcher Communicates back and forth with Drivers to assist with problem resolution while on route. Handles incoming customer calls/emails, service orders, directs drivers, and resolves service issues. Interacts with customers, administration, sales, and operational staff.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Knowledge dealing with Heavy Haul shipments or Heavy Haul Trucking such as over-dimensional as well as overweight loads which may require special routing in order to travel only on the highways that permit vehicle weights that can accommodate them in the Continental United States and Canada would be a definite must.

Works with operations and the service department to optimize complex routes

Knowing the Legal Requirements for Oversize, Overweight and Superloads:

Knowing how to deal with the legal considerations, permits and the technical challenges of pulling a heavy haul load is crucial to having a successful oversized load shipment.

Knowing which States require that certain oversize loads have certified Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operators (P/EVO) to protect the motoring public and the oversize load. The purpose of a P/EVO is to safely escort a superload from its beginning location to its final destination without damaging the load, motorists, highways, roads, bridges, control devices, signs, wires, overhanging objects or property.

The Dispatcher will manage the transportation of the superload shipment from start to finish, including obtaining special permits for each state – and county permits as needed, pilot cars or other escort vehicles and any additional equipment required to move your heavy haul load in a safe manner.

Dispatches drivers to calls as they are received, using information on customer needs, drivers’ locations and loads, and daily factors to balance cost and speed of response

Fields incoming calls from customers, and e-mails manages requests for pick-up or container delivery and ensuring same-day service Initiates outbound calls to customers while drivers are on-site/location, resolving pick-up and other issues

Troubleshoots and resolves potential delivery and pick-up problems before they result in service issues Records and documents information from Drivers and distributes to appropriate departments

Communicates with maintenance shop personnel and serves as an emergency point of contact.

Serves as point person for manager; coordinates projects and other tasks as necessary

Delegates work in managers absence

QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of 3 years dispatch experience in oilfield / heavy hauling.
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and incoming client requests.
• Ability to multi-task with multiple interruptions.
• Current knowledge of DOT regulations.
• Knowledge of Oil and Gas industry.
• Knowledge of heavy trucks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Class 5 Drivers licence with own reliable transportation.
Hours of operations are from Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
