IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for an ELECTRO-MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN for our Edmonton, AB client.


The Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for responding to maintenance requests within the plant and for responding to maintenance calls at other facilities in the Edmonton area.

The Maintenance Technician will maintain an excellent track record of maintenance works completed, be skilled and proficient with hand tools, and have a positive team focused attitude. He/she will be able to complete simple jobs efficiently and effectively, and assist team members in more complex repairs.

You will:

Read blueprints and schematic drawings

Move, assemble and install machinery and equipment such as shafting, precision bearings, gear boxes, motors, mechanical clutches, conveyors, and tram rails, using hoists, pulleys, dollies, rollers and trucks

Replace/repair parts to improve reliability and follow up after repair

Ensuring repairs and upgrades of machinery and equipment are completed in a timely and efficient manner – Sturtz and Bystronic.

Operate and maintain utility equipment including air compressors, power transformers, scissor lift & fire alarm system

Conduct preventive maintenance programs on equipment to determine worn out parts before failure and plan to replace. Keep records.

Perform lock-out and tag out system

Continuous improvements of existing system

Implement energy conservative measures on energy incentive equipment

Maintain cost effective inventory system

Identify and drive continuous improvement efforts through standardized work to cut cost and improve productivity and quality

Effectively communicate goals and objectives with measurable metrics


1-3 years of experience as an Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Must have experience with –  Sturtz and Bystronic.

Trade Certificate (not mandatory)

Knowledge of using hand and power tools

Must have knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, IMS SYSTEM & HSE/WHMIS

Good/working knowledge of lathes, milling machines and grinders

Diagnostics skills, ability to trouble shoot electrical, electronic, pneumatic components/circuits

Good customer relations, written and verbal communication skills

Valid class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract

Knowledge of autonomous maintenance and follow up

Knowledge of computer operating systems including MS Excel & Word

Innovation and problem-solving skills

Mechanically inclined and able to work at heights over 10 ft.

Adequate knowledge of rebuilt machines

Must be a team player and able to work with minimal supervision

Flexible and adaptable in any situation

Willing to work overtime on short notice

Travel may be required
