IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for a SHOP SUPERVISOR for our client’s location in Edmonton, AB.


Oversee, coordinate and prioritize all service work performed in the shop departments, including rewind, mechanical, machine and mechanical field service. Provide support to customers as required. Know the principles, objectives and standards of our client’s Quality and Safety Programs and know how to properly implement those procedures.

Assist and advise all shop supervisory personnel, as needed, in repair and/or replacement work.

Supervision and mentoring approximately 16 employees

Responsible to lead coordination of repair, warranty and replacement work

Schedule shop jobs and service work according to priority and deadlines within budgets

Manage material costs and time management of jobs

Employee hiring, training, review, discipline, etc

Dealing effectively with customer concerns

Oversee the priority scheduling of all service work including “rush” jobs (all first time customers shall be a priority), “ASAP” work, warranty and routine repair jobs.

Coordinate all inter-departmental work towards job completion within quotes.

Meet weekly with shop planner/service personnel to schedule and prioritize shop jobs documentation of this meeting is to be emailed to the Branch Manager and Sales Manager.

Monitor ongoing time and material costs for repairs with supervisory staff.

Ensure all shop employees have the training necessary to perform their work according to the company’s Quality Assurance Program and Safety Program.

Coordinate on-the-job training for all shop employees.

Review and track all job estimate paperwork.

Approve all requisitions for needed shop equipment and review them with the Branch Manager.

Confer with the Branch Manager regarding shop orientation, job scheduling, repair problems, customer concerns, employee performance and other matters as deemed appropriate.

Attend seminars, expositions to stay current on technical information relative to the electrical motor service industry.

Confer with supervisory personnel concerning employees’ performance reviews.

Carry out disciplinary action in accordance with company policy.

Oversee interview and hiring applicants and terminating employees for all shop departments.

Promote a strong company image at all times.

Provide input for the preparation of the annual budget.

Keep work area neat and clean.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

Ensure that all of our client’s safety policies and OH&S regulations are followed.

Understand and follow our client’s Quality policy


Journeyman Electrical Mechanic

8 to 10 years experience in Shop Supervision

Must have experience with Electrical Motor Repair, Rewinding and or Electro-mechanical experience with Motors

Must be able to prioritize jobs according to priority

Very good multi-tasking skills

Project coordination skillset

Very good communication skills to deal directly with customers

Advanced MS Office
