IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for a UTILITY TREE TRIMMER for our Onoway, AB client.


The Utility Tree Trimmer (UTT) is responsible for implementing all brushing policies set forth by EQUS. They are also be responsible for supervising and training Utility Tree Workers and Groundspersons in all brushing and ground work.


UTTs demonstrate quality in their work, adhering to the professional standards for utility vegetation management.


In the field, UTTs appreciate the risk and potential liabilities of the work they perform and demonstrate due diligence in managing vegetation growth close to utility installations.


UTTs value good working relationships with their colleagues, facilitating the achievement of shared objectives and goals.

UTTs prioritize the regular maintenance and routine upkeep of the tools of their trade and ensure that all company property is in good working order.


Utility Tree Trimmers are skilled in their trade and share their expertise with others. They have the experience and technical knowledge to deal with vegetation management issues.


UTTs are important partners in ensuring efficient power distribution system operation, cooperating with other team members within the organization. They are stewards of their profession. When interacting with members they show an appreciation of member service and understanding.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure safe limits of approach and maintaining right-of-way access by eliminating problem vegetation growing along high voltage power lines

Manage all assigned equipment and enforce the equipment maintenance program

Report of all problems, incidents and accidents to the supervisor

Give pre-notification of public for forestry work on private property including obtaining permission from property owners to do necessary line clearance

Deal with member concerns

Use climbing equipment to climb and work at varying heights cutting, trimming and pruning trees

Obtain landowner consents

Review and Approval of Work

This position reports to the Vegetation Leader


Certified Utility Tree Trimmer through the Professional Vegetation Managers Association, or similar

Valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and a Q air endorsement

Working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in tree trimming and tree removal

Ability to read maps to determine maintenance of existing right-of-ways

Experience operating mulchers considered an asset

Company Vehicle is provided

Applicant must be able to provide an acceptable drivers’ abstract, clear criminal record check, be able to successfully pass a drug, alcohol and physical test prior to employment
