JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client is in search of an experienced and highly qualified Pharmacist to join their team today! Their Pharmacy is committed to the well-being and total care of our customers. As their Pharmacist, you will abide by the laws and ethical principles governing pharmacy practice to provide a high level of patient care and safety.

Exercise professional judgement and practice within federal, provincial, legal, and regulatory requirements, the provincial code of ethics, standards of practice, and policies, being able to demonstrate professional integrity, upholding a high level of professional standards.

Provide patient focused services and professional advice/counselling on prescriptions and over-the-counter medications, and health related issues to patients.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with health care professionals in the community to ensure optimal patient care.

Provide oversight to Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Assistants in the delivery of medication, advise, counselling, and assistance to patients.

Assist in the management of inventory, including the ordering of prescription (dispensary) pharmaceutical products, and over-the-counter (OTC) merchandise.

Responsible for all activities related to the procurement, safekeeping, and disbursement of all narcotics and controlled substances.

Provide patient focused services such as injections, medication reviews, and minor ailment prescribing to maximize patient care.

Provide professional advice and counselling on prescription and OTC medications including indications, dosage, adverse effects, and drug interactions.

Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all matters regarding the pharmacy and its patients.

Ensure all matters discussed with patients are handled in a confidential and professional manner with the patient’s interests kept first and foremost.

Ensure all contractual agreements with service providers are followed and that patients receive the maximum benefit they are entitled to.

Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures that comply with federal and provincial legislation, regulations, bylaws and accrediting body standards.

Maintain quality management policies and procedures for reporting, documenting and following up on known, alleged, and suspected errors, incidents, and discrepancies.

Ensure all medication dispensing processes are accurate and appropriately managed while focusing on the timely delivery, reporting, invoicing, ordering, and communication.

Oversee all dispensing duties carried out by a Pharmacy Assistant to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of all prescriptions dispensed.

Ensure merchandise is being rotated as per the FIFO method.

Ensure that the dispensary inventory corresponds to computer records and that all proper receiving records are followed for narcotics and controlled drugs.

Ensure that proper inventory levels are maintained for all prescription products and that any and all outdated and damaged merchandise is handled in a proper manner.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with health care professionals in the community to ensure optimal patient care.

Collaborate with other health care professionals on a regular basis to identify and resolve drug therapy problems.

Participate in industry association events and stay up-to-date with developments in the pharmacy profession.

Provide leadership and guidance to Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants.

Provide professional advice, counselling, and expertise to patients regarding prescription and over-the-counter medications, medical conditions, and overall health.

To be responsible to fill out and turn in all accident/incident reporting forms as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.Sc.Phm.) or a Doctorate in Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from a recognized institution.

Pharmacy experience is an asset.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are required.

Injection certification and current licensure and good standing with relevant provincial College of Pharmacists is required.
