<p>An established North American provider of specialized municipal and public works equipment is seeking a <strong>Regional Sales Manager</strong> to lead sales across a key South Central Ontario territory. This field-based role owns the full sales cycle for a portfolio of specialized equipment used by municipalities and public works operations, with a mandate to grow market share and develop long-term customer relationships.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will combine <strong>outside sales experience, technical aptitude, and knowledge of municipal customers and procurement processes</strong>. <p>You’re a self-directed, relationship-driven sales professional who is comfortable spending most of your time in the field. <ul>
<li>Own and manage sales activity throughout the assigned territory, with responsibility for delivering year-over-year growth and increasing market penetration.</li>
<li>Develop new business while maintaining and expanding relationships with existing municipal and public-sector accounts.</li>
<li>Sell specialized municipal and public works equipment directly to end users, recommending solutions based on specific operational requirements.</li>
<li>Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and needs assessment through demonstrations, proposals, procurement, closing, and post-sale relationship management.</li>
<li>Provide equipment demonstrations, product training, and technical guidance to customers and internal team members as required.</li>
<li>Develop a strong understanding of customer applications across public works, road maintenance, environmental services, fleet operations, and related municipal functions.</li>
<li>Navigate municipal procurement processes, including public tenders and cooperative purchasing programs.</li>
<li>Collaborate with Sales, Parts, Service, and technical teams to ensure customers receive effective pre- and post-sale support.</li>
<li>Prepare accurate sales forecasts, activity reports, and territory performance updates.</li>
<li>Monitor competitive activity, industry developments, customer requirements, and emerging equipment technologies.</li>
<li>Participate in relevant municipal association meetings and industry networking opportunities.</li>
<li>Represent the organization at trade shows, conferences, demonstrations, and industry events in Canada and the United States.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></p>
<p><strong>Experience</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Minimum 5 years of outside sales experience, ideally within heavy equipment, vocational trucks, municipal equipment, industrial equipment, or a related technical sales environment.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience selling to municipalities, public works departments, or similar public-sector customers.</li>
<li>Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand equipment applications and translate operational requirements into appropriate solutions.</li>
<li>Familiarity with municipal procurement processes, including public tenders and cooperative purchasing programs such as CANOE.</li>
<li>Experience working with CRM systems and maintaining accurate sales pipeline and forecasting information.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Education &amp; Certifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Degree or diploma in Business Administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.</li>
<li>Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record, where required for job duties, or the ability to obtain one.</li>
<li>Ability to legally travel throughout Canada and the United States as required.</li>
<li>Ability to successfully complete a background check relevant to the position.</li>
<li>Eligibility to obtain OMVIC certification.</li>

<p><strong>Travel &amp; Work Environment</strong></p>
<p>This is a highly field-oriented position with <strong>up to 90% travel throughout the assigned territory</strong>. Occasional travel elsewhere in Canada and the United States will also be required for meetings, training, trade shows, and industry events.</p>
<p>Work will take place across a combination of remote/home-office settings, customer locations, municipal facilities, repair facilities, and occasional company office environments. The position may involve exposure to industrial environments, moving equipment, noise, and varying outdoor weather conditions.</p>

<p><strong>Overview</strong></p>
<p>The <strong>Senior Account Executive</strong> (SAE) role is responsible for prospecting and closing sales to new customers to achieve budgeted sales goals. This position develops and implements sound selling strategies that ensure revenue growth at target or greater profitability levels by selling to new customers.</p>
<p>Additionally, the role is responsible for managing existing business relationships in order to achieve budgeted sales and price goals by developing and implementing sound retention strategies, utilizing strong negotiation efforts to preserve business, and securing contract agreements from previously non-contracted customers.</p>
<p>The Senior Account Executive will &#8220;save, secure, and convert&#8221; by handling all customer cancellation requests, providing ongoing education of contract details to existing customers, and by obtaining customer contract commitments during face-to-face interactions. All customer service escalations within the defined territory will be resolved through this position. SAEs are responsible for maintaining and growing billable value in their assigned accounts.<strong> </strong></p>

<p><strong>Full Job Description</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Senior Account Executives are responsible for maintaining and growing billable value in their assigned accounts; preventing customer account losses and growing billable value by selling permanent new waste streams, new services, and new products to current and prospective customers.</li>
<li>Initiate business-to-business sales relationships.</li>
<li>Responsible for prospecting and closing sales opportunities to achieve budgeted sales goals by developing and implementing sound selling strategies.</li>
<li>Manage prospects by developing sound prospect development plans and maintaining key information in the prospect database. Maintain sales pipeline (both in terms of quantity and quality) to achieve new sales goals.</li>
<li>Minimize most revenue and accounts by maintaining SSDO relationship health standards and diffusing cancellation requests. Meet or exceed sales call activity goals for proactive account retention.</li>
<li>Increase revenue and profitability by executing sound plans on retention calls to improve the customers’ service and/or profitability.</li>
<li>Establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.</li>
<li>Propose customer solutions that comply with appropriate local, state and federal regulations. Communicate to and work with the Area Sales Managers to resolve unique customer issues.</li>
<li>Demonstrate knowledge of customers’ needs, pricing and competition; effectively communicate pricing and service strategies; proactively engage other WM business opportunities, referring internally as appropriate.</li>
<li>Acquire in-depth industry and company knowledge in order to prepare complex proposals and make recommendations on equipment optimization and leasing options.</li>
<li>Maintain current knowledge of internal sale strategies and operational capabilities, and external market trends.</li>
<li>Work closely and effectively communicate with Plant Managers and Brokerage Account Managers to assist in upgrading materials to increase profitability and achieve plant goals.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&#8217;s Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree</li>
<li>High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relative work experience</li>
<li>4 years of work experience in direct business-to-business sales, business-to-business cold calling, and phone based business-to-business prospecting resulting in successfully obtaining customer appointments (in addition to education requirement)</li>
</ul>
