THE OPPORTUNITY 

IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently supporting our client in their search for a Tour Planner to join their Edmonton-based team.

With nearly 50 years of success under consistent ownership, our client a recognized leader in escorted motorcoach travel, delivering high-quality, curated travel experiences across North America and beyond. This is an opportunity to play a key role in designing and executing exceptional travel programs, with potential to step into tour directing responsibilities.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This role is responsible for the end-to-end planning and coordination of escorted tour programs—from concept development through execution.

The ideal candidate brings strong organizational capability, attention to detail, and a creative approach to building engaging travel experiences. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple projects simultaneously, and are comfortable working cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, develop, and execute escorted motorcoach tour itineraries
  • Research destinations, accommodations, attractions, and suppliers
  • Liaise with hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, and tourism partners
  • Negotiate supplier rates, contracts, and availability
  • Build and manage tour costing, including pricing, margins, and taxes
  • Develop detailed tour packages, schedules, and operational documentation
  • Collaborate closely with reservations and operations teams
  • Maintain and update Excel-based planning tools and reports
  • Support brochure development, tour descriptions, and marketing materials
  • Provide ongoing support to active tours, including changes and issue resolution

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in travel planning, tour operations, or a related role (required)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Working knowledge of pricing, costing, and basic financial principles (margins, taxes)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Experience with Eastern Canada travel planning is considered an asset

WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE

  • Full-time, on-site position in Edmonton
  • Monday to Friday, day shifts (7.5-hour workdays, approximately 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Fast-paced, project-driven environment with shifting priorities

As the organization continues to grow, they are seeking a customer-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is a high-impact, front-line role responsible for managing reservations, supporting travel partners and clients, and ensuring a seamless booking experience from inquiry through to completion.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and confident managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of client service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage inbound telephone and email inquiries, including timely follow-ups
  • Support travel agents and direct clients with bookings, changes, and general inquiries
  • Coordinate and book travel arrangements including flights and accommodations
  • Accurately collect and input passenger and booking details into reservation systems
  • Perform manual data entry and maintain data integrity across platforms
  • Process payments, invoicing, refunds, and booking adjustments
  • Maintain and update internal spreadsheets, reports, and tracking tools
  • Conduct research and provide administrative support as required
  • Deliver a consistently high level of customer service and professionalism

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in travel reservations or as a Travel Agent (required)
  • Post-secondary education in Travel, Tourism, or Hospitality (required)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles (pricing, taxes, refunds)
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Able to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Comfortable interacting with clients and supporting sales-related activities
  • Travel insurance experience is considered an asset
