IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is seeking a POWER SYSTEMS ENGINEERING SPECIALIST for our Laval, QC client.

This role can also be based in Moncton NB, Ottawa, ON or Quebec City, QC locations or remotely within the surrounding Laval, Moncton, Quebec city or Ottawa locations.

Our client has the largest and most experienced team of power system engineers in the industry, with industry-standard software and advanced modeling and analysis capabilities at their fingertips.

This team brings extensive skills and experiences to power system analysis and design. Active participation in technical societies such as IEEE and collaboration with a variety of utilities and industries ensures that our engineers are knowledgeable about today’s cutting edge engineering techniques.

They assist customers at every stage of the power system: from substation and distribution system design to renewable energy and smart grid engineering, from safety and reliability-focused studies to power quality and grounding related audits and analyses.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide applied engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of power systems studies, power quality analysis, installation, start-up, maintenance, repair and training.

Self- management of assigned projects and job cost accountability to perform work within budgeted cost estimates.

Performs engineering assignments that may involve power systems analysis, power quality measurements and audits, consulting and design services, troubleshooting, and problem solving relative to power distribution equipment.

Focus on short circuit, coordination, arc flash, load flow and power quality analysis.

Interpret specifications and customer inquiries; design technical proposals and pricing for customers.

May design and conduct specialized training for customers.

May mentor or lead other engineers on projects including reviewing and stamping their work.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

Member of the OIQ (l’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec).

Minimum of 3 years of experience in power systems engineering work.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in the use of SKM PTW, ETAP, EDSA, CYME, or EasyPower software.

Candidate must have working proficiency in both French and English (oral and written).

Only candidates currently residing within an 80km radius of Laval QC, Moncton NB, Quebec City, QC or Ottawa, ON will be considered.

Demonstrated ability to provide service and represent company interests in developing customer relationships to assure long-term customer satisfaction.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical aptitude and complex problem-solving skills.

Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft office applications.

Effective time management, prioritization and project management skills.

Our client’s Energy Automation Solutions Division is looking for a Project Manager. This position is located at our office in St-Bruno-de-Montarville, Quebec. 


Our client is a world-class Power Engineering Solutions provider with an established reputation for customer responsiveness and technical expertise. Their solutions stand behind thousands of T&D projects in over 100 countries around the world. As part of a multidisciplinary development team, the project manager will manage and coordinate the development of customer paid development projects in the field of analysis and modeling of electricity distribution networks and renewable energies.

Essential Responsibilities:

Manages customer paid software development projects, ensuring high standards in efficiency, on time delivery, and scope management.

Performs analysis on business requirements and produces technology designs and estimates as required.

Prepares and actively manages project schedules.

Provides status reports on project budget, schedule, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issues.

Effectively communicates with all project stakeholders (both internal and external).

Proactively identifies and addresses project risks and issues.

Coordinates with cross functional teams including engineering, marketing, support, sales and finance.

Identifies lessons learned and contributes to methodology improvements.

Establishes trust and develops long term relationships with customers.

Promotes teamwork and collaboration in the work environment.

Works independently with minimal supervision.


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent from an accredited institution.

8+ years of experience in software development project management.

Experience working with business stakeholders from cross-functional teams.

Solid understanding of project and program management standards, methods, and techniques.

Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrates the ability to negotiate, manage conflict and manage risk.

Strong sense of accountability and ownership.

Fluency in English, French (working proficiency).

Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant certifications (PMP).

Experience in the electrical utility sector.

Knowledge of power system engineering analysis
