WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a closely related field.
  • 5–10 years of relevant field safety experience within an industrial or processing facility.
  • Previous safety engineering experience within petroleum refining or chemical manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety programs, including permit-required confined spaces, hot work, energy isolation, and contractor safety.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Construction Site Lead / Senior Construction Technician to work alongside the Construction Manager and serve as a trusted #2 in the field.

This is a hands-on construction role, with approximately 80–90% of the position spent working on the tools. The successful candidate will work alongside the crew while also providing day-to-day leadership and direction to one or two helpers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Product Engineering team responsible for Electric and Fluid Systems product lines.
  • Provide engineering leadership across the complete product lifecycle, including New Product Development (NPD), advanced R&D, production support, sustaining engineering, and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE).
  • Drive the design and continuous improvement of innovative electromechanical sensing products with a focus on quality, reliability, manufacturability, and competitive differentiation.
  • Champion engineering best practices, ensuring compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, including design controls, configuration management, product reliability, and product development processes.
  • Build organizational capability through coaching, succession planning, technical development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, engineering tools, and methodologies that improve engineering execution and long-term scalability.
  • Partner with customers and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative technical solutions while fostering strong customer relationships.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering programs while balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day engineering oversight.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading engineering teams within a product development environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing and developing electromechanical sensing, fluid systems, or electrical systems.
  • Proven experience leading products through the entire lifecycle—from concept, design, validation, and production to sustaining engineering.
  • Demonstrated success managing engineering project portfolios, multiple workstreams, and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience within the commercial and/or military aerospace industry, or designing products and systems that support the aerospace sector.
  • Experience working within regulated manufacturing environments with familiarity with FAA certification requirements.
  • Strong background utilizing engineering design, analysis, and data-driven problem-solving tools.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and customer engagement skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contract requirements.

What You Will Do

As the Mechanical Superintendent, you will provide day-to-day leadership for all mechanical construction activities while supporting successful project execution.

  • OSHA 30 certification preferred (OSHA 10 will be considered for onboarding).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience using Procore or similar construction management software is considered an asset.
  • Willingness to travel and temporarily relocate to project sites as required (up to 80–100%).
