IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is seeking an INSTRUMENTATION & CONTROLS ENGINEER for our client in Atlanta, GA.
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of process control systems within an industrial manufacturing or process environment. This role will focus on instrumentation selection, control system design, and commissioning activities to support reliable and safe plant operations.
Key Responsibilities

Design and specify process control instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, level, and flow measurement devices.

Develop and specify discrete, analog, and networked control solutions for process systems.

Select instrumentation suitable for hazardous area classifications in accordance with NEC requirements, including high-temperature applications.

Prepare technical specifications, bid packages, and design documentation, and review supplier designs for compliance with project requirements, codes, and licensor standards.

Support the design and modification of process control and instrumentation systems across multiple facilities.

Assist in developing instrumentation standards to ensure consistency and compliance across operations.

Participate in Management of Change (MOC), PHA action items, and construction information requests.

Support permitting activities at the local, state, and federal levels.

Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning, including:

Identifying installation deficiencies and managing punch lists
-
Witnessing I&C testing
-
Loop checks and documentation verification
-
Plant commissioning and start-up activities
-

Coordinate with EPC contractors, engineering teams, and equipment suppliers.

Travel to other company facilities as required (approximately 10%).
Qualifications
-
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related field
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering within a process or manufacturing environment

Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), particularly Article 500 for hazardous locations
-
Experience with Functional Safety standards (IEC 61508 / IEC 61511) and SIL requirements

Familiarity with Management of Change (MOC) systems

Hands-on troubleshooting and field support experience
Technical Experience
-
5+ years of PLC programming and configuration using platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or Codesys
-
Experience designing control systems down to the component level
-
5+ years of instrumentation setup, testing, and commissioning in construction or process environments

Experience configuring industrial communications using Modbus, Profinet / Profibus, and Foundation Fieldbus

Experience integrating industrial gateway devices for multi-protocol communication
