IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently seeking a QUALITY ENGINEER for our client, a global manufacturing organization operating within the advanced materials and lithium battery technology sector.
**This role will start in Piney Flats, TN and then you must relocate to Danville, VA in 2027 upon plant completion**
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Quality Engineering professional to join a rapidly growing manufacturing operation supporting the production of highly engineered battery separator materials utilized within the electric vehicle, energy storage, and advanced battery markets.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting manufacturing quality, continuous improvement, process optimization, and quality system compliance while working closely with Operations, Engineering, R&D, Production, and Supply Chain teams to ensure products consistently meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting into Quality Leadership, the Quality Engineer will serve as a critical technical resource supporting manufacturing quality performance, process improvement initiatives, customer quality requirements, and quality system compliance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will utilize strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills to identify improvement opportunities, investigate quality concerns, drive corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, process capability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
This role is ideal for a quality professional who enjoys working directly with manufacturing operations while driving meaningful improvements that positively impact product performance, process stability, and overall business results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Systems & Compliance
- Support and maintain compliance with quality management systems including:
- IATF 16949
- ISO 9001
- ISO 14001
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, internal quality standards, and regulatory expectations
- Support internal audits, external audits, customer audits, and quality assessments
- Maintain quality documentation including:
- Procedures
- Work Instructions
- Quality Records
- Inspection Documentation
- Support Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes and continuous quality system improvement initiatives
Manufacturing Quality & Process Support
- Monitor manufacturing processes and product quality performance
- Analyze quality data, process trends, and manufacturing performance metrics
- Investigate product defects, process deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints
- Support root cause investigations and implementation of effective corrective actions
- Participate in process validation, product qualification, and manufacturing testing activities
- Ensure quality inspections, testing activities, reporting, and documentation are completed accurately and on schedule
- Maintain ownership of assigned quality projects, investigations, and improvement initiatives
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
- Drive quality improvement initiatives focused on:
- Defect reduction
- Scrap reduction
- Process capability improvement
- Waste elimination
- Operational efficiency
- Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives throughout the facility
- Utilize quality tools and methodologies including:
- SPC
- PFMEA
- Control Plans
- 5 Why Analysis
- Fishbone Diagrams
- Statistical Analysis Tools
- Identify opportunities to improve product quality, process consistency, and manufacturing performance
- Utilize data-driven decision making to support operational excellence initiatives
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, R&D, Production, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams
- Support quality-related communication and problem-solving activities across departments
- Contribute recommendations that improve product quality, manufacturing performance, and customer satisfaction
- Promote a collaborative culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
Safety & Environmental Responsibility
- Follow all manufacturing, laboratory, environmental, and safety procedures
- Promote a strong safety-first culture throughout all activities
- Support environmental compliance and operational sustainability initiatives
- Ensure quality activities are performed in accordance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Engineering
- Quality
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Materials Science
- Or related technical discipline
- Minimum 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience within:
- Battery Manufacturing
- Advanced Materials
- Chemical Processing
- Coatings
- Plastics
- Automotive Manufacturing
- Industrial Manufacturing
- Experience supporting quality systems including:
- IATF 16949
- ISO 9001
- ISO 14001
- Experience conducting:
- Root Cause Analysis
- Corrective Action Investigations
- Process Improvement Initiatives
- Strong understanding of:
- SPC
- PFMEA
- Control Plans
- Statistical Analysis
- Manufacturing Quality Systems
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Preferred
- ASQ Certification or equivalent quality certification
- Experience supporting lithium battery, battery separator, advanced materials, automotive, chemical processing, or related manufacturing operations
- Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience
- Experience participating in customer audits and supplier quality initiatives
- Familiarity with advanced manufacturing quality reporting systems and data analytics tools
