POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to Engineering Leadership, the Senior Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership and oversight for the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical building systems across a variety of medium and large-scale projects.

This role serves as a senior technical resource within the organization and is responsible for leading discipline-specific engineering activities, mentoring junior staff, supporting project delivery, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, quality requirements, and client expectations.

The successful candidate will be heavily involved in project planning, design development, technical reviews, client interactions, and team leadership while helping drive successful project execution from concept through construction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Electrical Engineering Design & Technical Leadership

  • Lead electrical engineering design activities for medium and large-scale projects
  • Develop electrical system designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Review and approve complex engineering designs, analyses, and calculations
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Provide advanced technical guidance and support to project teams
  • Review product submittals, shop drawings, and engineering deliverables
  • Respond to technical RFIs and support field issue resolution
  • Prepare technical reports, studies, and supporting project documentation
  • Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings

Project Execution & Delivery

  • Support successful project delivery while maintaining schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction objectives
  • Develop project work plans, resource requirements, and execution strategies
  • Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to accommodate scope or schedule changes
  • Coordinate with internal engineering disciplines and external stakeholders
  • Conduct periodic site visits to support construction activities and resolve technical issues
  • Participate in project meetings as a senior technical advisor and client representative

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Provide leadership and technical oversight to electrical engineering staff
  • Mentor engineers at various stages of their careers and support professional development initiatives
  • Promote engineering best practices, quality standards, and continuous improvement
  • Support recruitment, training, and technical growth of engineering personnel
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) designation required

Experience

  • Minimum 9 years of progressive electrical engineering experience within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering & Construction) industry
  • Prior healthcare project experience strongly preferred
  • Experience leading electrical engineering design efforts on medium to large-scale projects
  • Demonstrated success working within multidisciplinary engineering consulting environments

Technical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of electrical building systems design
  • Advanced understanding of applicable engineering codes, standards, and QA/QC procedures
  • Proficiency with multiple engineering design and analysis software platforms
  • Experience reviewing technical calculations, specifications, submittals, and construction documentation

Leadership Competencies

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, and staff development capabilities
  • Demonstrated success managing technical resources and project priorities
  • Ability to balance multiple projects while maintaining a high level of quality and client service

Communication & Client Management

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong client-facing presence and presentation capabilities
  • Experience contributing to proposals, technical presentations, and business development initiatives
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, project stakeholders, and internal teams
