Due to continued growth in North America, our client is seeking an experienced Technical Field Advisor – Rotating Equipment to join its Houston-based team.
About the Role
The Technical Field Advisor is a highly customer-facing field position responsible for providing hands-on technical leadership and expertise during the installation, commissioning, overhaul, maintenance and troubleshooting of critical rotating equipment at customer sites.
Acting as the technical representative in the field, you will work directly with customers, site personnel, contractors and internal technical teams to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced rotating-equipment professional who enjoys being in the field, solving complex mechanical problems and working directly with customers on steam turbines and centrifugal compressors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide field service and technical advisory support under the direction of the Field Service Manager.
- Lead and support the installation, commissioning, overhaul, maintenance and troubleshooting of critical rotating equipment.
- Serve as the technical field representative at customer sites throughout the Oil & Gas and Energy sectors.
- Provide technical expertise on steam turbines, centrifugal compressors and associated rotating equipment.
- Diagnose equipment issues and provide practical, technically sound recommendations and solutions.
- Support major equipment inspections, repairs, shutdowns and plant outages.
- Assist with job planning, scope development and preparation for field assignments and major outages.
- Produce accurate, detailed and technically comprehensive Field Service Reports.
- Work closely with customers, contractors and internal technical resources throughout field assignments.
- Assist in developing technical proposals and scopes of work for field service projects and major plant outages.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality, customer service and technical excellence.
- Represent the organization professionally while developing strong, long-term customer relationships.
- Travel extensively throughout North America, including Canada, with occasional international assignments as required.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a highly experienced rotating-equipment professional with strong field-service expertise and the ability to operate independently at customer sites.
You will bring:
- 8+ years of rotating equipment experience within field service, maintenance, commissioning or related technical environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with steam turbines and centrifugal compressors.
- Previous experience with an OEM, turbomachinery organization or independent rotating-equipment service provider.
- Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, Refining or related heavy industrial experience.
- Demonstrated experience with installation, commissioning, overhaul and troubleshooting of critical rotating equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting capabilities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, procedures and equipment documentation.
- Experience supporting major plant outages, shutdowns and turnaround activities.
- Strong technical report-writing capabilities.
- Excellent customer-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with customers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in demanding field environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and MS Project.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering is considered an asset but is not required. Significant relevant rotating-equipment field experience is the priority.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout North America and internationally when required.
