Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Turnaround Manager to lead complex turnaround projects across refinery, upgrader, and ethanol plant facilities. Reporting directly to the VP of Canadian Refining, this senior leadership role is responsible for managing critical maintenance shutdowns and startups — ensuring all events are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget. What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct regular assessments to ensure alignment with turnaround delivery models and achievement of business objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to extend intervals between turnarounds and maintain long-term strategic planning documents.
  • Ensure adherence to Operations Integrity Management Systems (OIMS) and support the development of turnaround scopes and objectives.
  • Manage capital and expense projects, ensuring resource allocations appropriately meet facility needs.
  • Maintain the Turnaround Milestone Schedule and deliver leadership presentations to align cross-functional teams.
  • Define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for turnaround success, with a strong focus on safety and environmental compliance.
  • Compile executive summary reports and maintain comprehensive historical data to inform future planning cycles.
  • Engage in standardization and continuous improvement initiatives through technical networks and cross-functional projects.
  • Develop contracting plans and support supply chain management in the procurement of service contracts.
  • Lead steering committees to ensure turnaround readiness and effective risk management throughout all project phases.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback to team members, aligning individual development with business objectives.
  • Drive the achievement of world-class turnaround events, with a near-term focus on the 2028 Upgrader turnaround.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum of 16 years of leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams in turnaround planning, scheduling, and execution — or equivalent technical, maintenance, or project leadership experience.
  • Extensive expertise in change management and large-scale project management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in the petroleum refining or petrochemical sectors is required.
  • Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to present complex project status and risk information to senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing teams in demanding operational environments.
