Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Director of Supply Chain to lead and optimize the full supply chain function across purchasing, logistics, inventory, and supplier management. This leader will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, improving scalability, and building a resilient supply chain that supports continued business growth in a manufacturing environment.
This role is ideal for a strategic yet highly operational supply chain leader who enjoys building structure, improving processes, and driving measurable results. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable negotiating with suppliers, analyzing inventory and freight performance, and collaborating cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Sales, and Engineering teams.
What You’ll Do:
The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for leading all aspects of the company’s supply chain operations, including purchasing, logistics, inventory management, demand planning, and supplier performance. This role will ensure materials and products are sourced, transported, and delivered efficiently, reliably, and cost-effectively to support operational performance and long-term growth.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on continuous improvement, operational scalability, and cross-functional collaboration within a manufacturing environment.
Supply Chain Leadership & Strategy
- Own the end-to-end supply chain strategy, execution, and overall performance
- Design, implement, and continuously improve scalable supply chain processes that support margin growth and customer service objectives
- Establish, track, and report on KPIs across purchasing, logistics, inventory, and supplier performance
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate supply chain risk
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Lead all purchasing activities, including supplier sourcing, selection, negotiation, contracting, and ongoing performance management
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships focused on quality, reliability, responsiveness, and cost optimization
- Develop sourcing strategies that improve supply continuity and strengthen overall supply chain resilience
- Drive supplier accountability through performance metrics, scorecards, and regular business reviews
Logistics & Distribution
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics operations, including freight management, warehousing, and third-party distribution partners
- Optimize transportation methods, carrier relationships, and routing strategies to balance cost, speed, and service levels
- Ensure on-time delivery performance while proactively resolving logistics and distribution issues
- Continuously evaluate logistics processes to improve efficiency and reduce freight costs
Inventory Management & Planning
- Lead inventory planning, forecasting, and replenishment strategies to support operational and customer requirements
- Balance inventory availability with working capital objectives and carrying cost targets
- Partner closely with Sales, Operations, and Finance to align demand forecasts and supply planning
- Improve inventory accuracy, visibility, and overall planning processes
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Sales to support business objectives
- Serve as the primary supply chain leader in strategic planning and leadership discussions
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations, Business, or a related field required
- MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain, logistics, procurement, or related functions
- Proven experience managing both purchasing and logistics operations within a manufacturing environment
- Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated success achieving cost savings and supplier optimization initiatives
- Experience scaling supply chain operations within a growing organization
- Deep understanding of inventory management, freight operations, demand planning, and supplier performance management
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive effective cross-functional collaboration
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25–30 lbs
- Occasional standing, walking, and movement throughout manufacturing areas
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
