Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a Global Procurement Category Lead – Portfolio to develop and execute global category strategies that support business objectives across multiple regions. About the Role

Reporting to Global Procurement leadership, you will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the global procurement strategy for the Portfolio category. Working in partnership with regional procurement teams and cross-functional business leaders, you will identify opportunities to optimize costs, reduce supply risk, strengthen supplier relationships, and improve overall procurement performance.

This highly visible role requires a commercially minded procurement leader who can balance strategic planning with hands-on execution while effectively navigating a global matrix organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a 3–5-year global category strategy aligned with corporate objectives and regional business priorities.
  • Lead global strategic sourcing initiatives, including supplier selection, RFX processes, commercial negotiations, and contract management.
  • Drive value through total cost of ownership analysis, supplier optimization, cost reduction initiatives, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) programs that improve supplier performance, innovation, and long-term partnerships.
  • Provide market intelligence, supplier insights, and industry trends to support sourcing decisions and business planning.
  • Partner closely with Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Business leaders to align procurement strategies with organizational goals.
  • Coach and support regional category managers to ensure consistent execution of global sourcing strategies and best practices.
  • Establish category performance metrics and monitor KPIs related to cost savings, supplier performance, service levels, innovation, and risk management.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across procurement processes, supplier collaboration, and category performance.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a strategic procurement leader with strong commercial acumen and demonstrated success managing global supplier relationships within complex organizations.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum of seven years of progressive procurement experience, including significant global or regional category management responsibility.
  • Proven success developing and executing global procurement and category strategies.
  • Extensive experience in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and commercial negotiations.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working within multinational, matrix organizations.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to translate market intelligence into strategic procurement decisions that deliver measurable business value.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CIPS designation, or other professional procurement certification and/or postgraduate education, is considered an asset.
