THE OPPORTUNITY

IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently seeking a QUALITY & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MANAGER for our client, a leading organization operating within a precision manufacturing environment.

This is a key leadership role reporting to the Vice President of Innovation & Technology, responsible for driving quality excellence and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the organization. The successful candidate will lead quality strategy, oversee QA/QC operations, and implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance operational performance, reduce variability, and improve overall product quality.


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager is accountable for ensuring that all products and processes meet regulatory, customer, and internal requirements, while driving sustainable improvements across the business.

This role combines hands-on quality leadership with strategic continuous improvement, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term organizational performance.

Regular Business Hours
Compensation Target is $120,000-$150,000/year, plus benefits, RRSP match, stock purchase plan (Open to hearing from outside of this range)


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Leadership

  • Lead the Quality function, including QA, QC, and Quality Engineering teams
  • Establish and execute the strategic direction of the Quality department aligned with corporate objectives
  • Oversee and enhance quality management systems and on-floor quality practices
  • Collaborate with Plant Leadership to ensure alignment on process changes and quality expectations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures across manufacturing operations
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, licensor, and customer requirements

Continuous Improvement

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the organization
  • Lead the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Drive process standardization, workflow optimization, and waste reduction
  • Mentor and support internal Lean practitioners (Yellow/Green Belts)
  • Utilize tools such as Root Cause Analysis, 5S, Kaizen, FMEA, and Value Stream Mapping to improve performance
  • Develop and deliver training programs focused on process improvement and operational excellence

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop members of the Quality team
  • Support recruitment, retention, and performance management initiatives
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance culture
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback
  • Promote strong risk management practices through leadership and training

Cross-Functional & Strategic Leadership

  • Act as a key member of the Senior Management Team
  • Partner with executive leadership to drive both short- and long-term strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to improve performance and execution
  • Monitor and report on key performance metrics, including quality, delivery, revenue, and margin
  • Lead performance reviews and ensure action plans are implemented to address gaps

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng) or Professional Licensee (P.L. Eng); APEGA membership or eligibility required
  • 15+ years of experience in QA/QC within a manufacturing or machining environment
  • 10+ years of leadership experience managing teams and driving performance
  • Formal training in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher preferred)
  • ISO Auditor certification considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience within oil & gas or related industries considered an asset

This is a critical frontline leadership role responsible for overseeing mechanical maintenance execution across a high-hazard, highly regulated facility. The successful candidate will lead both internal teams and contractors, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality maintenance execution while driving reliability and operational performance.

Position Overview

Reporting into site leadership, the Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day execution of mechanical maintenance activities, including preventative, corrective, and reliability-focused work.

This role oversees a workforce of 50–200+ craft personnel and contractors, ensuring all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and operational standards.


Key Responsibilities

Field Execution & Safety Leadership

  • Lead daily mechanical maintenance activities, ensuring clear scope, procedures, and safety expectations
  • Champion a safety-first culture, enforcing LOTO, permit systems, JSAs, and critical safety standards
  • Conduct pre-job briefings, site walkdowns, and post-job reviews to ensure alignment and continuous improvement
  • Drive incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Ensure compliance with all SSHE, regulatory, and company safety standards

Mechanical Maintenance Oversight

  • Oversee execution of preventative and corrective maintenance across:
    • Pumps, compressors, piping systems, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers
    • Structural, civil, and insulation systems supporting cryogenic operations
  • Support troubleshooting, performance testing, and reliability improvements
  • Coordinate vendor and specialty contractor work including equipment overhauls, vibration analysis, and repairs
  • Ensure quality and compliance of inspection and testing activities (NDE, hydrotesting, corrosion monitoring, etc.)

Planning, Coordination & Reliability

  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Reliability, and Planning teams to prioritize and sequence work
  • Ensure job readiness including permits, materials, tools, and workforce allocation
  • Provide field input into maintenance planning, budgeting, and scheduling processes
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)

Continuous Improvement & Performance

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, safety, and cost optimization
  • Monitor and act on key performance metrics including:
    • Preventative maintenance compliance
    • Work order completion
    • Backlog and risk trends
  • Identify and eliminate execution barriers to improve productivity and reduce rework
  • Champion Lean maintenance practices and operational discipline

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop mechanical technicians and contractors

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years in a mechanical maintenance leadership role
  • Strong experience with:
    • Mechanical systems (rotating and static equipment)
    • Maintenance planning and execution
    • Contractor management

Preferred Experience

  • LNG or gas processing facility experience
  • Cryogenic systems, refrigeration, and steam systems
  • Experience with gas turbines and compressors
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP preferred)
