PROCESS ENGINEERING LEAD / MANAGER, ATLANTA, GA, USA – #5827
IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently seeking a Process Engineering Lead / Manager for our client, an innovative and rapidly growing organization focused on scaling advanced recycling technology from concept through commercial deployment and global licensing.
This is a highly visible technical leadership opportunity responsible for driving process engineering activities across the full project lifecycle — from early-stage technology development and FEL studies through FEED, detailed design, commissioning, and startup execution.
This role is ideal for a hands-on Process Engineering leader who thrives within fast-paced, high-growth environments and enjoys building scalable process solutions, leading multidisciplinary collaboration, and translating emerging technologies into commercially viable operations.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting into senior leadership, the Process Engineering Lead / Manager will serve as the technical process authority responsible for developing and owning the process engineering scope for advanced recycling and process technology projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with technology development, commercial, EPC, operations, and project teams to ensure process designs are technically sound, scalable, operable, and capable of supporting successful commercialization and licensing initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Engineering Leadership
• Lead process engineering activities across FEL, FEED, detailed design, commissioning, and startup phases
• Develop and maintain process design basis documentation
• Own mass and energy balances, process simulations, operating envelopes, and process calculations
• Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and process design criteria
• Support successful transition from concept development through commercial plant startup
Technology Scale-Up & Commercialization
• Translate proprietary process technology into scalable and executable process designs
• Support development of licensor-grade technology and process packages
• Partner closely with technology and commercial teams to support future licensing opportunities
• Drive process design standardization and scalability initiatives
Process Safety & Operability
• Lead and participate in HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and operability reviews
• Support relief system design and process safety initiatives
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and best practices including API and ASME requirements
• Support development of safe, operable, and maintainable process designs
EPC & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Act as primary process engineering interface with EPC contractors and external engineering partners
• Collaborate closely with mechanical, piping, controls, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams
• Support alignment between engineering disciplines to minimize downstream rework and technical risk
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to future process engineering resources

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering
• Approximately 10–15 years of experience within chemical processing, petrochemical, refining, or advanced recycling environments
• Demonstrated experience supporting projects from concept development through startup and commissioning
• Strong process engineering design and simulation capability
Technical Experience
• Aspen Plus and/or Aspen HYSYS experience
• Mass & energy balances
• Process simulations and process modeling
• PFDs & P&IDs
• Equipment sizing and process calculations
• Process safety and operability reviews
• API, ASME, and applicable engineering standards
