SHIFT SUPERVISOR (DUPONT SHIFTS) PROCTOR, WV, USA – #5770

IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is currently seeking a Shift Supervisor for our client located in Proctor, WV. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong chemical process operations professional or experienced operations leader looking to step into a highly visible frontline leadership role within a continuous-process industrial environment.

This role is ideal for an individual with strong hands-on operational and mechanical troubleshooting capability who thrives in fast-paced chemical processing or hazardous industrial environments and enjoys leading teams, improving operations, and driving plant safety and operational performance.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting into plant leadership, the Shift Supervisor will be responsible for leading shift operations personnel while ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant plant operations within a 24/7 continuous-process operation.

The successful candidate will provide frontline operational leadership, support maintenance coordination efforts, troubleshoot operational and mechanical issues, assist with operator development and training, and help drive continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

This role requires strong process operations knowledge, hands-on troubleshooting capability, and the ability to lead collaborative teams within a safety-focused industrial environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations & Shift Leadership
• Lead and supervise shift operations personnel within a continuous-process chemical manufacturing environment
• Foster a strong culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence
• Monitor plant conditions and ensure compliance with operating procedures and site standards
• Support safe, reliable, and efficient process operations across the facility
• Maintain shift logs, operational documentation, and production reporting activities

Operator Training & Development
• Train, mentor, and develop Process Operators to improve operational consistency and technical capability
• Assess operator skill levels and support ongoing operational training initiatives
• Reinforce plant procedures, operating standards, and environmental compliance expectations
• Support development of operator understanding regarding process systems and plant operations

Maintenance & Troubleshooting Support
• Support maintenance planning and operational prioritization activities
• Assist with troubleshooting process and equipment issues including pumps, compressors, boilers, heat exchangers, and utility systems
• Differentiate operational versus mechanical issues and coordinate repair priorities with maintenance personnel
• Support contractor activities and autonomous maintenance initiatives
• Prepare and support safe work permits including hot work and confined space permits

Safety, Environmental & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and process safety requirements
• Support emergency response preparedness and safe operating practices
• Assist with maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations
• Promote adherence to PSM and operational safety procedures throughout the facility

Continuous Improvement
• Identify operational improvement opportunities and support implementation initiatives
• Support operational efficiency, reliability, and production improvement efforts
• Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, technical, and contractor teams to improve plant performance

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
• Minimum 5 years of experience within:
• Chemical processing
• Power generation
• Hazardous industrial operations
• Strong operational troubleshooting capability
• Hands-on mechanical/process equipment knowledge
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work rotating shift schedules within a 24/7 operation

Preferred
• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree

WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Combination of control room and field operations
• Exposure to active industrial process environments
• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• PPE and respirator use required
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work around operating industrial equipment
