Our client is a leading manufacturer of high-performance AC and Brushless DC (BLDC) fans, blowers, and cooling systems serving the commercial and military aerospace and defense industries. Their innovative products support mission-critical applications where precision, reliability, and performance are essential.

As they continue to grow, they are seeking an experienced SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER to join their engineering team. This individual will play a key role in the design, development, testing, and certification of advanced electric motors and cooling systems, supporting products throughout the entire lifecycle—from concept and prototype through production and sustainment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design, develop, and validate high-performance AC induction and Brushless DC (BLDC) motors for aerospace applications.
  • Lead engineering activities throughout the complete product lifecycle, including concept development, prototype design, testing, production, certification, and sustaining engineering.
  • Support new product development, engineering changes, product enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and review engineering drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), specifications, test plans, validation reports, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Program Management, Sales, and Customer Support teams.
  • Investigate product failures, warranty issues, and root cause analyses while implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Evaluate materials, components, assemblies, and overall product performance to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and quality requirements.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to manufacturing and test teams, ensuring successful product execution.
  • Work independently while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing engineering organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering experience within an AS9100-certified manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience designing and testing high-performance electric motors, cooling fans, blowers, or similar rotating equipment.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Brushless DC (BLDC) motors
    • Single- and three-phase AC induction motors
    • Electromagnetic design principles
    • Stator and rotor assemblies
    • Motor subassemblies and manufacturing processes
  • Strong understanding of engineering materials, including electrical steel, magnets, copper, aluminum, housings, and related components.
  • Expertise with GD&T and engineering documentation.
  • Experience supporting product testing, validation, troubleshooting, and certification.
  • Experience within the commercial and/or military aerospace industry, or designing products for aerospace applications, is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Motor-CAD, ANSYS Motor-CAD, magnetic FEA software, and Speed Motor Design software is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to present technical information across engineering and cross-functional teams.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contract requirements.

Compensation & Benefits
